Getzen will launch the new models 3001 Silver plated and 3001LE (highly engraved, gold plated) Artist's Model Custom trumpets in September of 2001. The first 200 new Severinsen trumpets with serial numbers beginning "SG" (Severinsen/Getzen) will include a special "Certificate of Authenticity" signed by both Doc Severinsen and Thomas Getzen. The hand-hammered, one-piece, annealed bell instruments are currently being hand-crafted in the Getzen Pro Shop and will be shipped in vintage style hard-shell cases with exterior pouch.

"Based on the number of players that still cherish their old Getzen/Severinsen trumpets from the 60s and 70s, this should be a significant event," said Mike Maass, VP of Sales for Getzen. Mike continued, "People still contact Getzen, proudly give us the SK (Severinsen/Knowlton) serial number of their horn, then tell us how happy they have been with their Severinsen trumpet. Considering the level Doc and Getzen have achieved in the new product and how well it will perform for years to come, these initial 'launch' instruments should create quite an event for collectors and players."

Additional: Lever waterkeys, plus the annealing, baking of the bells, bell bow shape and dimensions, slide shapes and leadpipe lengths/dimensions are all done to Doc's specifications. Each main bell-to-body brace is "sweet-spotted" in the Pro Shop, a process where the main brace is positioned, play-tested and repositioned from optimum performance before the brace is soldered. This customizes each unit to it's own hand-hammered bell. Consequently, stores and customers may notice different placement of the braces when viewing the trumpets side-by-side
